Drawboard PDF Volume Licensing Key Marion County, Indiana (317) 549-4000/ (317) 549-4010/ (317) 549-4020 The Marion County Sheriff's Department needs extra resources to keep up with its increasing workload. The agency spends an average of $1,154 each day on overtime for law enforcement officers. In 2010, the Sheriff's Department decided to try a new technology solution from Drawboard PDF. The agency is now using a mobile solution that allows officers to create and edit crime reports, call lists, and other documents on the move. By freeing up officers' time for more police work – instead of paperwork – the agency has been able to reduce its overtime budget by 97 percent. It now spends just $2.03 per officer per day on overtime work. At an annual cost of less than $25,000 for mobile devices and software licenses, the change has saved the county more than $1 million so far this year. Sunday, June 15, 2012 2:15 a.m. A witness called 911 to report a possible break-in at the company's headquarters in Danville. A Danville police sergeant observed two men in front of the building taking photographs with a large spotlight aimed at the structure. The sergeant observed that the door was unlocked and entered the building with his weapon drawn. While inside, he observed two additional men inside the building wearing tactical gear with several weapons slung around their necks, backpacks and waistbands. One of the suspects was lying prone on the ground next to a bed, while a second suspect was lying in a fetal position inside the bed. The sergeant ordered both men to show their hands and stand up. After several commands, one suspect stood up and began an aggressive physical confrontation with the sergeant. In order to gain compliance from the suspect, the sergeant struck him in his facial area with his flashlight. While struggling on the ground with one suspect, another suspect approached from behind and struck him in his head with a collapsible baton striking the left side of the officer's head above his ear. The sergeant was knocked unconscious from the strike. The suspects then took the sergeant's rifle from his hands and struck him several more times in his head and back area. The suspects fled out the front door of the headquarters where they encountered a Danville police officer who attempted to stop them from fleeing in a Chevrolet Tahoe. The suspects used their vehicle to ram into the police car, striking it at least 3 times. One suspect then fired shots into both sides of the police cruiser with a Bushmaster ACR rifle, striking it numerous times and shattering one of the cruiser's windows. The suspects ultimately struck a third Danville Police cruiser which was occupied by two officers from Danville PD's Special Operations Group (Danville SOG). cfa1e77820
